Are you wasting dollars on registration control by paying for more than you need? Many are surprised to find that they answer is in fact, “yes.”
FLEXIBLE PACKAGING REGISTRATION CONTROL METHODOLOGY
Todays standard practice is to apply a servo motor driven system to control the unwinding and registration of flexible packaging material. The precision of the servo systems is far beyond the requirement of flexible packaging requirements.
One Motion products provide precise registration control without the expense of a servo system. The application of synchronous motor technology with conventional frequency drives provide a very accurate registration control system for flexible packaging without the cost of a servo systems. These savings can be ½ to 1/3 of a traditional servo system.
This is possible as One Motion products act as synchronous motors, offering precise speed control, regardless of load size.
So, are you wasting unnecessary dollars on registration control? One Motion devices are competitively priced and cut front end costs by working with practically any frequency drive that has a synchronous setting and eliminating the need for a gearbox.
Imagine being forced to drive on the interstate in Los Angeles during rush hour traffic. If you’re not familiar, it’s bumper to bumper traffic where you’ll be lucky if your top speed hits 25 MPH. If you had to buy a vehicle specifically for our imaginary road trip, would you want drive a large, bulky, 18-wheeler diesel truck, or a small, compact car? The obvious answer is, of course, the compact car. It would be more efficient and reliable.
The same concept largely applies when talking about achieving registration control through the use of servo-motors. Much like the 18-wheeler in our example above, servo-motors are “large and bulky” when you consider the motor, gearbox and all the rotating components required. On a typical servomotor configuration, you have to deal with 10 – 12 bearings that wear out in time, oil that can leak, a motor that can become too hot, and more. So, what is the solution?
“RELIABILITY IN SIMPLICITY”
As you might have guessed (considering you are on our website after all), the One Motion direct-drives simplify the process and cuts costs (both initial and long-term) immensely! Because we use magnets to directly power the outer ring or shaft, our products rid the need for a gearbox, only uses 2 bearings (compared to the 10 – 12 needed for servomotor), and reduces overall rotating components by over 90%.
A servo motor also generally relies on a gearbox to handle high torque, becoming the middleman between the motor and shaft. By powering the final driver (or shaft) directly, the magnet powered direct-drives are more efficient and require fewer amps of electricity than a servomotor.
While a servomotor needs a servo drive to monitor the feedback signal for speed and position, One Motion direct drives can be used with conventional frequency drives.
More importantly, they prevent downtime and save money on the back end! Thanks to the simple, gear-less design, our direct drives don’t get hot, leak oil (because there is no oil), and have very few parts that wear down, making them very reliable.
